What they did to me, what I am, can’t be undone.
(Thanks for the prompt! Sorry it took a little while, but I don’t read DC, and I’ve never read a word of Damian’s before going onto his tag on tumblr a few days ago, but I tried all the same! Enjoy~)
Kate Bishop sauntered around the dreary, white room. well, it was more than a room, more like a dreary white… vastness. Yes, that would be a good word for it, vastness. Not that she cared much about what this place was called. She knew where, and what she was. She was dead, simple as that. Now her next order was business was to get the hell out of being dead, like she’d been trying to do for hours on end.
“This freaking sucks,” she said to no one in particular, as no one was around to hear her say anything. At least, she didn’t think anyone was, so she began saying it louder, “This…” she took a pause, sighed, and started screaming, “THIS FREAKING SUCKS!”
She groaned and walked some more, going nowhere in particular, waiting to hit an end or a wall or something. But nothing appeared. However, she did hear someone behind her, making her wheel around, ready to defend herself out of habit.
“Brilliant observation. Next?” it was a young boy… around 16, maybe. Dark hair, strong build, he seemed cocky though. Overly-cocky. Kate hated that, but he was the first person she’d seen while dead so she wasn’t about to shoo him away. Instead, she ignored the sassy remark.
“Any idea where we are?” she asked, feeling slightly naked without her bow within reaching distance in an unfamiliar place with a stranger. She’d like to think she could take him, but she had no idea what to expect here.
“Dead,” he said simply, a cocky smirk on his features. Now he was just irritating her.
“Oh, brilliant observation, next?” she sneered back and looked around again. Of course nothing had changed, still a blank white vastness, “Who are you, anyway?”
“Damian Wayne. And you are?”
“Kate Bishop,” she paused, looked around, and raised a cross between a sigh and a groan. So far, there had been no getting out of this place… not to mention dead tended to mean dead. Even with friends that could warp reality, Kate knew that all too well. That made her wonder if she may be seeing any familiar faces, rather than just this stranger, but she quickly pushed the thought from her mind, “So is there any point in trying to get out?”
Damian rolled his eyes and walked past her, “Well I’m not just going to sit here,” he began walking the direction Kate came. She quickly walked after him and grabbed his arm to have him wait, and was met with lightning quick reflexes with a solid grip on her forearm. They locked eyes and glared for a moment before Kate smirked and released him.
“Okay, not bad,” she commented. Damian still glared, despite Kate’s relaxed posture, “So you’re trying to get out of here… want some help?”
Damian eyed her up and down, as if untrusting. Clearly he wasn’t the most personable, but if Kate was going to get herself out of here, he’d have to do for some help. She just hoped he’d be willing to work together. Finally, he gave her the smallest hint of a smile.
“I suppose you’d do for some help. Kate Bishop? I believe I’ve heard of you somewhere,” he continued walking and Kate fell in step with him, her peppy chatter mixing with his more proper words. If nothing else, at least she found a friend in her death.
